District Camp

These are some initial plans and basic details to get you going. We will elaborate in due course. All costs are what we are aiming for and will be confirmed shortly – costs include central catering.

Basics

Our whole District camp will take place at Whitley Beaumont campsite between 30 June and 2 July 2023. Whitley Beaumont has been chosen for several reasons, not least that it is effectively our District Camp Site, we part own it and so want to use it. It is also an excellent entirely self-contained space. It has some challenges too (access!) but these have been overcome in the past and not been too problematic.

Friday-Sunday for Scouts and Explorers (£30). Saturday-Sunday (£20) for Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers or Saturday only (£10) for Squirrels, Beavers and Cubs. Mixing and matching across these within a section will be difficult but please talk to us if you need some flexibility.

Scouts/Explorers and Squirrels/Beavers/Cubs proposed to have different sub-camps in different parts of the site for sleeping.

Logistics

Drop off hopefully at Lepton Highlanders with walk in, as tried and tested previously with Scouts and Explorers at their 2018 camp.  All arrivals and departures will be staggered. Transport will be available where needed for kit and potentially for Squirrels and Beavers, as well as those with difficulty walking etc.

Leader cars to be parked at WB – in general once the cars are in they will need to remain until the end of the event.

We intend to add toilet and hand wash facilities as needed depending on numbers in addition to permanent site infrastructure. We are also considering option of a Thursday evening setup.

Programme

Separate programmes for Squirrels/Beavers/Cubs and Scouts/Explorers, with camp having a general theme of ‘medieval’ and pre-event programme opportunities to follow.
